Q: Who will answer my phone call or
email?
A: I will respond to your phone call or email within 24
hours.
Q: What should I expect in my first session?
A: The
first session is 60 minutes in length. During this time, we will talk about
your reason for coming to therapy and problems that you are having. At the
end of the session, we will set goals and make a plan for therapy.
Q: How long are the subsequent sessions?
A: After the first
sessions, all sessions are 45 minutes in length.
Q: How often do
I have to come for therapy?
A: Most patients attend therapy sessions
weekly. However, you may opt to attend therapy bi-weekly. As symptoms
decrease and you feel better, we can discuss the option of maintenance
sessions once a month as needed.
Q: How long will I need to be in
therapy?
A: The length of therapy depends on the presenting problem.
This can be discussed in the first session.
Q: Who will know what I
talk about?
A: The information that you share with me is confidential
according to the state law and ethics of psychology. Pertinent
information will only be released either by your consent or by the
Pennsylvania Law which will be discussed in your first session.
Q: What if I think I need medication?
A: I am a licensed
psychologist who is not able to prescribe medication. However, I could
provide you with a referral to a psychiatrist or consult with your
primary physician about psychotropic medication.
